Aphrodisiacs are substances that enhance sexual desire and pleasure and are associated with the influence of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and sexuality. This term has been used to describe various foods, herbs, and substances believed to stimulate or enhance sexual desire throughout history.
In ancient Mayan and Aztec cultures, cacao was often associated with love, fertility, and sensuality. Cacao was considered a sacred food, and it was sometimes used in marriage rituals to symbolize the union of two people. Cacao has been described as a “heart-opener” in modern ceremonial contexts. It is believed to help individuals connect with their emotions, including those related to love and sensuality. Participants in cacao ceremonies often focus on intentions related to love and intimacy.
For this month’s gathering we will be holding a cacao ritual to set our intentions for the evening and open our hearts to spiritual dimensions of intimacy. Central to our primary directive of tribalism, rituals allow us to tune our frequencies together as a community before we engage in play.
